Too much ‘juju’ in the music industry – Edowodzi slams colleagues
Ghanaian musician Raymond Gbede, known in showbiz circles as Edowodzi, has expressed his fear and pain over the high rate of black magic (juju) among colleagues in the music industry.
Speaking to Nana Adjoa Arthur, host of Yenko Fie on Connect 97.1 FM, Edowodzi revealed how he suffered after releasing his first single, ‘Yenko Nkoa’ in 2011.
“I suddenly fell sick after 1 signed a contract to tour the USA and 19 other countries after I released ‘Yenko Nkoa’, but I lost the deal due to my ailment.”
According to him, he was spiritually attacked by some musicians in the Ghanaian music industry. He said this strange ailment kept him bedridden for over two years, adding that it took his faith in God to be saved.
“It’s not easy to be a musician in Ghana. If you are not spiritually strong, you will regret ever becoming a musician. After visiting several churches, it was revealed that some colleagues in the music industry were responsible for my suffering. I nearly died, but God saved me. Music in Ghana is a matter of life and death,” Edowodzi continued.
The musician explained after what he went through in 2011, he decided to put his music career on hold. However, he assured his fans some new singles to be released in 2023.
“I’m currently working on two new singles. Hopefully, they will be out next year.”
