Let’s be bold and ban China from mining in Ghana, it won’t affect any relationship – Fmr Ghana Ambassador to China

Former Ghana Ambassador to China under the erstwhile John Mahama Administration, Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah avers Ghana banning china from mining in Ghana will be a major stride in the fight against illegal mining in the country.

He pointed out that the nation should be bold enough to take such a momentous move to salvage the nation from the dying canker of illegal mining in Ghana.

Speaking on Kessben TV with Kwame Appiah Kubi, Horace Ankrah divulged that during his stay in office as the Ambassador he blacklisted some Chinese from entering Ghana all because of illegal mining.

According to him, there is a Province in China where most of the Chinese who come to Africa to mine are from and together with the then Government led by H.E John Mahama he ensured that those from that Province are blacklisted from entering Ghana.

“On the key things to end the illegal mining, especially by the Chinese, number one is to ban them from mining in Ghana. It won’t affect any relationship. Let’s be bold. We have to and it won’t affect or spoil anything.

That is what we called diplomacy. We tell them this particular trade by your people on our land is destroying our country” He stressed.
