Ghana vs Brazil: Venue for friendly match confirmed
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed on Monday that the friendly match between the Black Stars and five-time world champions Brazil will take place in France.
The match, which is part of the two teams’ preparations for the 2022 World Cup, will take place on September 23 at Le Havre’s 25,000-seater Stade Oceane.
“The venue for the International friendly between Brazil and Ghana has been confirmed. The two teams will face off in Le Havre – France on Friday, September 23, 2022, as part of preparations towards the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals,” the GFA wrote on their website.
The game is important for both teams because it allows them to test their readiness for the World Cup, which begins on November 20.
Ghana have a South American team, Uruguay, in their group and sees the match against Brazil as a chance to test their strength against an opponent who plays in a similar style to the Uruguayans.
Meanwhile, the match gives Brazil the opportunity to play a big African team in preparation for their group stage match against Cameroon.
Ghana and Brazil have met four times, with the South Americans winning all four by an aggregate score of 13-2.
Following the match against Brazil, Ghana will play 139th-ranked Nicaragua in another friendly scheduled for September 27 in Spain.
Black Stars will play Portugal on November 24, South Korea on November 28, and Uruguay on December 2 in Qatar, while Brazil face Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon for their group matches.
