Cedi Depreciation: Paracetamol hits GHC70, pharmaceutical shop operators cry (Video)
Pharmaceutical shop operators have bemoaned about the increasing depreciation of the Ghana cedis affecting their trade.
A pack of paracetamol used to sell at a wholesale price of GHC50 not too long ago but due to the cedi dollar depreciation, a pack is now sold at GHC70.
The Pharmaceutical shop operators say, the situation has forced importers to increase the wholesale price of the common drug.
Some of the operators speaking on Kessben TV divulged that due to the situation importers who had been giving the drugs on credit to them have all stopped.
“Due to the increment it is now cash and carry, they have stopped giving it to us on credit” a pharmaceutical shop operator in Kumasi said on Kessben TV.
The implication is that henceforth a piece of Paracetamol tablet cannot be sold at GHC1 anymore.
