N/E: Police intelligence leads to arrest of 12 a month after violent clashes

An intelligence-led operation by the police in the North East Region in the wee hours of Wednesday, August 24 has led to the arrest of 12 persons said to have been heavily involved in clashes in Gbalo and Kukpong/Sagong in the Chereponi District of the Region.

The clashes last month led to the burning down of 16 houses and the killing of several livestock.

The timely intervention of the police, then, saved lives with calm restored immediately afterwards.

Luckily, the operation on Wednesday found the perpetrators, who are set to be arraigned before court on Thursday, August 25 “to face justice”.

The police thanked the North East Regional Commander, DCOP Moses Ali Kpeachin, and his team “for their efforts in restoring calm and gathering intelligence leading to the arrest of the key suspects behind the clashes”.

A press release signed by Director of Public Affairs Grace Ansah-Akrofi urged all to use dialogue instead of violence in resolving differences.
