Ajax hold three meetings with unhappy Mohammed Kudus

Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder says the club has met three times with Mohammed Kudus, who is unhappy and wants to leave the Dutch giants.

Schreuder stated that during those meetings, the Ghana international did not hide his disappointment at being relegated to the bench for the new season despite impressing during the pre-season.

Kudus, 22, was Ajax’s best player with four goals in 141 minutes, but he has started every game from the bench.

Last Friday, it was reported that Kudus had reached an agreement with Everton regarding a loan move. It is said that Kudus’ agents met with Ajax and demanded the player’s release due to his bench role.

However, Ajax refuted the claims and again used Kudus as a substitute in their victory over Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday.

“We spoke with him 3 times. He believes he should play. But hey, only 11 can play. At times, I can see he is disappointed. That is normal. It’s whether you can control yourself for the team. He handles that well. Today he showed a high level,” Schreuder told reporters after the match.

Kudus played 17 minutes on Sunday, the most he has played since the season began in early August. He had only played 10 minutes in two games prior to Sunday, prompting him to request a transfer.

Ajax are not interested to release the player, claiming that he is critical to their plans.
