The 1st Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s parliament and MP for Bekwai, Hon Joseph Osei-Owusu has revealed that in spite of the growing inflation in the country he does not spend more than GHC20 a day on food when he is in his constituency.

Though the lawmaker avers that inflation in the country is fast rising, inflation on food is not what it has been perceived to be.

Hon Joseph Osei Owusu speaking on Kessben Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi divulged that he spends an average of GHC20 on food especially when he is in his constituency, Bekwai.

“I don’t spend more than GHC20 on food in a day when I’m in Bekwai. For the last two weeks that I have been in Bekwai, there is no single day that I spend more than GHC 20 on food” He said.

According to the Bekwai MP, there is an abundance of food in the country but one of the major challenges over food inflation is got to do with transporting the foodstuffs from the hinterlands to the major cities which leads to astronomy in the prices of the foodstuffs.
