2022 Annual General Meeting of Bible Society of Ghana Held

The Bible Society of Ghana have held it’s 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) with the call on members to make God’s word available to all mankind and urged Christians to join the Society to propagate the gospel.

Speaking at the AGM at Evangel Assemblies of God in Accra, the General Secretary of the BSG, Rev. Dr. Enoch Aryee-Atta expressed gratitude to the council, management and the staff of the society and churches in the country for freely opening their doors as well as providing immense support towards the operations of the BSG.

“We thanked the Almighty God for achieving a good success in the year under review in spite of the challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic he added.

He explained that the financial support from members and donors have helped the BSG to make significant progress in the scripture works across the country.

Sharing some insights of Bible donation to Junior High Schools (JHS) and pupils, the General Secretary disclosed that the BSG have distributed free Bibles worth GH¢143,650.00 to GH¢5,276 Junior High Schools and pupils across the regions of Ghana.

“Five Thousand Two Hundred Seventy Six (5,276) Junior High Schools Students across the country received free Bibles worth GH¢143,650”, the General Secretary added.

According to him, the gesture is aimed at transforming school going children to witness and experience the empowerment of God’s word to help curb the high level of indiscipline in Basic and Senior High Schools in the bid to raise an array of future leaders with integrity in service to God.

Throwing more light on the Society Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR), he hinted that the society have made donations to government agencies and mentioned the Ghana Armed Forces receiving  5,000 free copies of the Bible, Ghana Police Service- 3,500, Ghana Immigration Service- 3,000, Ghana National Fire Service – 2,500 and the Ghana Prison Service receiving also 3,000 copies.

“The Society have further donated scores of the Holy Book to the Army Headquarters for soldiers going on peace keeping mission to Sudan, South Sudan and Mali”, he said.

On newly commissioned Bible translation projects, Rev. Dr. Aryee-Atta mentioned Effutu-Senya of the people of Senya Beraku and it’s immediate envirous and  Okere for Adukrom and the Guan speaking communities in the Eastern region as socio-linguistics studies were done as two consultative engagements were held with key stakeholders of the Okere language.

“The 2021 Bible week was also celebrated in 401 churches as compared to the 240 churches visited in the year 2022 which commenced from 6th to 14th February, 2021 under the theme, “Preparing for the future. The Bible as a Guide”.     

The President of the BSG, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah in a remark expressed worry of false prophesies from men of God who are taking undue advantage of the vulnerable saying the world is going through lawlessness and urged Christians to continue to demonstrate their peace and faith in Jesus Christ.
