We did stakeholder engagement before increasing tariffs – Dr Kofi Obutey
Dr. Kofi Obutey, Director of Research and Corporate Affairs at the “Public Utilities regulatory” (PURC) has revealed that the 27.15% increase in tariff for water was conducted by stakeholders, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), government legislator and the general public.
According to him, the concerns vary from region to region because the commission had a study called the consumer expectation survey where 4% were of the view that, the current electricity tariff is not commensurate to the quality service, and 42% too said that, the prevailing electricity tariff is fair.
Dr Kofi Obutey stated that, with the Ghana water service, 50% is justified whiles the other tariff is not justified but 41% also stated that, the water tariffs are fair.
“Study shows that some are of the view that, the services are good and others are not which clearly shows that it varies so the efficiency was picked. He said on Kessben Maakye in an interview with Kwame Appiah Kubi “Mr. Speaker.
