Dan Quaye backs calls for Sule Muntari & Asamoah Gyan to be in the Black Stars Worldcup squad
Former Accra Hearts and Black Stars defender Dan Quaye believes Sule Muntari and Asamoah Gyan will be a good addition to the Black Stars squad to play in the Qatar 2022.
Asamoah Gyan in a recent interview with the BBC has said he’s not giving up on a Black Stars’ return as he looks forward to possible revenge against Uruguay who denied Ghana to the Semi-final of the 2010 Worldcup.
“Anything can happen, it has happened before back in 1994 when Roger Milla came back from retirement to play in the World Cup.
But I haven’t retired yet, I haven’t announced my retirement, I have been out for almost two years now due to injuries and my body shutting down.
“I just need to get my body back in shape, so I have started training of course and I’ll see how my body reacts to playing competitive football.
“Talent-wise, everything is there already, so I just have to prepare physically and then we’ll see what happens.” Asamoah said.
Dan Quaye reacting to Asamoah Gyan’s interview underscored that the only thing that Asamoah Gyan may be lacking now is match fitness and stamina but if he’s able to work on that he will be a very good addition to the Ghana team at the WorldCup.
“Players like Kevin Prince Boateng and others are still playing. Sule Muntari for instance can play and he should be invited to the Black Stars at Worldcup.
We need such experienced players always to be among the young players. For Asamoah Gyan, if he has fitness, he should be invited. He can help the team a lot. We all know Asamoah Gyan, the kind of player he is and the kind of personality he has.
It is about the mindset, he’s a motivator, very inspirational to always have him and he’s got a very good heart as well. If he can work on his fitness and gets into good shape he must be invited. Dan Quaye said on Kessben TV’s Extra Time Sports.
