The people at CAS understand football better – Thomas Duah react to CAS lifting ban on players (Video)
Ashantigold coach, Thomas Duah has reacted after the Court Of Arbitration (CAS) temporarily lifted the ban on Ashgold and Inter Allies players who were slapped with 2 years ban by the Ghana football association.
The Ghana football association banned the 27 players of the two clubs for roles they allegedly played in fixing a 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) game.
A statement signed by the Deputy President of the Appeals Arbitration Division of CAS, Elizabeth Steiner, noted that the ruling takes immediate effect for the said players to be engaged and earn salaries until the substantive case is heard.
Thomas Duah speaking on Kessben FM’s Extra time sports show reiterated that the GFA got their decision wrong to have banned the footballers and the coaches of Ashgold and Inter Allies.
According to him, there is no evidence to back claims that the players and the coaches were involved in the said fixed match.
“I was not surprised that CAS came out with this temporal ruling. What the Ghana football association did, was not right. How can you just ban people who knew nothing about the fixed game? I’m happy about the decision of CAS. They understand football better” He said.
Football welfare body FIFPRO, on 1st August 2022, launched the appeal on behalf of 21 of the 27 players at CAS through the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG)
