Reshuffle: Akufo Addo’s comment is insulting – NDC’s Apetorgbor

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s comments on calls to reshuffle his ministers are insulting, a communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ralph Apetorgbor has said.

He criticized Mr Akufo-Addo for saying that those calling for the reshuffle have ulterior motives.

According to him, President Akufo Addo’s outburst was unbecoming of a leader of his stature and insulting to Ghanaians.

Mr. Apetorgbor made the remark during the swearing in of newly elected NDC branch executives in Accra on Tuesday.

Demand for reshuffle has become intensive lately following Ghana’s return to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the complains about hardship in the country.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has been singled out by some members of the NDC as one who ought to be axed from office.

President Akufo-Addo had accused the NDC members of wanting a reshuffle in his government.

According to the President, persons calling for the reshuffle of his Ministers may be persons looking for job opportunities and also some NDC members whose actions may be aimed at undermining the government.

“The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs,” the President said while speaking on North Star Radio in Tamale as part of his two-day tour of the Northern Region on Monday August 8.

He stated that the performance of his ministers is in line with expectations when he evaluates them.

But Mr. Apetorgbor argued that President Akufo Addo’s response was insensitive, especially when the populace were yearning for a better Ghana.

“The President’s statement indicts not only the NPP but himself as well. We are, undoubtedly, under a grossly blinkered leadership. Sadly, to the detriment of the welfare of citizens”

“Ghana is in distress but government has maintained the ostrich policy; refusing to accept the obvious, rather choosing to disparage patriotic and well-meaning Ghanaians who proffer suggestions to resolve the challenges confronting the nation”, Mr. Apetorgbor said in a statement.

He also called on the people of the Anyaa Sowutuom constituency to remain supportive of the party and assured that the next NDC government will cater for the well-being of the masses
