The $280 million mass registration exercise for Ghana Card is turning useless – Ziega

Political analyst, Nana Frimpong Frimpong Ziega asserts the whopping $280m registration exercise by the National Identification Authority is turning nugatory with many flaws.

There have not been one or two challenges with the application and the acquisition of the Ghana card but quite multiple challenges that have made practically half of the Ghanaian population not secure their Ghana even after years of mass registration.

The NIA noted that one of the many challenges they are having is got to do with double registration which is adding up to the cause of the delays.

Nana Frimpong Ziega speaking on Kessben TV’s Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi said he cannot phantom why the double registration cannot be detected as biometric data is believed to be captured during registration.

He stressed that the $280 million exercise registration by NIA is turning out to be useless if the double registrations are happening despite having the fingerprint data captured.

Communication minister Ursula Owusu on 31st July extended the deadline date for the registration of SIM cards with the Ghana card to 30th September 2022.

The decision was informed by the fact that many Ghanaians have still not received their Ghana cards to do the SIM card registration.
