Kwabena Kwabena believes supporting female musicians will create balance in industry
The number of female artistes keeps dwindling despite the successful careers few in the race have built. To which Kwabena Kwabena shares exclusively with 3 entertainments Naphtali Baah that female musicians deserve all the support they need to keep a balance in the secular game.
We have the likes of Eno Barony, Wendy Shay, Adina and Sister Derby holding down the fronts while blazing the path for Gyakie and co to continue the legacy. And others (Fantana, Miss Forson, Freda Rhymes, etc.) who unceremoniously vanished from the scene, leaving us wondering why?
Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena believes that the male-dominated secular music sector has created unfavourable conditions for nurturing female acts. He goes on to preach about the necessity of balance to appropriately satisfy the need of music lovers.
“I think we can do more, and we should do more because when you look at our industry, we don’t have too many females. That should tell us that we should give them special attention and every support they need to be able to go on and do what they have to do and make it attractive for other females to come through.
“So that we can have a good balance in the industry between male-female artists. I think it’s so male-dominated that they fill a little lonely. We need to push the females,” he shared with Naphtali Baah.
