20% Fares Increment is Fair To The Industry – GPRTU National Communications Member

National communication communication member of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Mr. Amoah Samuel says the increment of transportation fare to 20% is a fair deal.

Speaking to Akuoku Kwarteng on Kessben ‘The big question” program, he disclosed that, the increment of fuel price from 8.4% to 10.8% per litre is outrageous. According to him, Drivers are complaining bitterly about the rapid fuel price increment in the country so as passengers.

Mr. Amoah Samuel said, the President of the republic of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo speech on the May day celebration clearly showed that the government is not willing to reduce the fuel price.

The president at this year’s May Day celebration at the Independence Square in Accra, stated that “At this time, when we are determined to expand Government revenues to increase our capacity to finance our own development, can we afford to reduce tax revenues by four billion cedi’s (GH¢4 billion)?. According to him, The sudden change in transport fares is as a result of government not responding to their proposals because the country is at risk in running at a lost when taxes on petrol are reduced he added.
