Profile Of The Man Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, NPP National Chairman Hopeful
He is contesting for New Patriotic Party(NPP) Chairmanship position along side six(6) equally formidable competitors .He is a founding member of the family of NPP, a native of Techiman from the Ameyaw Akumfi royal family. His father was the Paramount Chief of Techiman Traditional Area and Advanced in age though but he is very a active, has s lot of wisdom, knowledge, experience, good human relations, results oriented,loyal, honest , tolerant,affable, and respectable. When it comes to academic qualifications and work, he stands taller, having lectured at Cape Coast University at the Science Department, precisely zoological depart for decades. He became the dean of the Science Department, and then Pro Vice Chancellor of the university. In fact it was he who introduced Semester System the University into our academic calender which he brought from the USA on his return from a sabbatical leave .
This system was later borrowed by the traditional and other universities and copied, In the Rawlings regime he was appointed the Director General of the Ghana Education Service , a position proposed by Hon Spio- Garbah but it took Jerry Rawlings more than a year to append his signature to it because the Professor had contested on PFP ticket in 1979. So the Professor has been a staunch loyal member of the UP tradition from 1979 to date and a founding member of the Dankwa- Busia club in 1990 and member of the NPP in 1992. He also won the Techiman North seat twice during J. A Kufour’s regime. During his tenure as GES D-G, a lot of transformatoon took place there .
This is a man who has clean and impeccable academic, public and political life spanning over four decades. He is knowledgeable, experienced, tolerant, affable , loyal, honest, spotless, undiscriminatory , generous, good-hearted, human centered,unabrasive,uncorrosive , skilful negotiator, respectable, respectful, acceptable, a unifier, etc. Ameyaw Akumfi stands for three pillars ; UNITY, DISCIPLINE and COMMITMENT and He had the NPP and Ghana at heart and is coming with no baggage or fault.
