Teenage pregnancy set on the increase following teachers strike, students bore (Video)

Some students have expressed worry following the strike action by their teachers at the pre-tertiary level in Ghana.

The strike action of the teachers has entered day 4 with no glimpse of the teachers going back to the classrooms anytime soon.

The leading unions of teachers in Ghana declared the strike on Monday morning (July 4, 2022) at a press conference in Accra.

The strike followed after the government’s failure to pay the cost of living allowance (COLA) the teachers apparently asked for.

Kessben TV reporters have been going around at various schools and is either the students are seen playing, loitering around or no students at all at some schools.

The moment has adversely provided a chance for some of the students to engage in some recalcitrant acts per the information gathered at some districts.

Students at the Trede Basic school in the Ashanti region expressed worry over the situation of no learning and teaching as the BECE exams approach.

Some students have taken advantage of the situation and have been visiting their friends while they claim to report for school.

These visits are likely to lead to teenage pregnancies as some of the students are allegedly said to be sleeping with their boyfriends in the communities.

Despite the indefinite strike action by the teachers, the Ghana Education Service has directed that all schools must be remained open.
