‘Unclean gutters’ is a major factor of perennial flooding in Accra – Prof. Kofi Anokye

Engineer and building consultant, Prof. Kofi Anokye has attributed unclean gutters in Accra as one of the major factors to the perennial flooding in Ghana, especially Accra.

With the least rainfall in Accra, some parts of the capital of Ghana are likely to get flooded due to many factors.

Prof. Kofi Anokye speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi noted that one of the leading factors has been the unclean gutters in the capital.

He stressed that, apart from the fact that these gutters are mostly unclean leading to flooding, the gutters are also not big enough.

Areas like Tesano, Dansoman Junction, the Industrial Area, the Achimota-Nsawam road, Nungua, Teshie, the National Road Four (N4), the Tetteh-Quarshie Interchange, Adenta, Kaneshie-Mallam, Odawna and its surrounding areas were heavily hit with flooding recently after Tuesday’s morning downpour.
