I will rate NDC ahead of NPP on public engagement, NPP should have listened to Mahama – Prof. Mawutor

Lecturer with UPSA, Prof. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor has rated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in terms of stakeholder engagement.

According to the senior lecturer, one of the deficiencies of the NPP government is it’s their inability to engage the masses before coming out with policies.

Following Government’s decision to turn to the International Monetary Fund for financial aide, many have been asking whether the Government will reverse the controversial E levy which was implemented few months ago.

The Government apparently stated strongly stated that they will never resort to the IMF if the E levy is passed. The E levy has failed to live up to its target revenue.

Prof Mawutor speaking on Kessben TV with Akuoko Kwarteng underscored that if the Government had done proper public and stakeholder engagement before coming out with the E levy idea, it would have been more successful.

“I will rate the NDC ahead of the NPP in terms of stakeholder and public engagement. There are people out who are wise and intelligent” He said.

“On issues like this, you hold stakeholder engagement, and allow people to give out their input, with this it becomes more of a national policy but not something which necessarily the party policy. I remember John Mahama once suggested this to the government to make for such enagemment, they should have listened to him” Dr Mawutor added.
