The police knew I’m a weapon carrier – Joshua Akamba speaks about showing off a pistol at the Demonstration
The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba was arrested by the police for possessing a pistol in the crowd during the Arise Ghana demonstration on Wednesday.
According to the outspoken NDC member, the incident was misconstrued by the section of the media who claim he deliberately showed the gun at the protest.
Akamba speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News with Kwame Appiah Kubi with rubbished assertions that he consciously showed off the gun.
“I’m a professional and would not show off a weapon. For what? How can I go around showing off a weapon?
The police know I’m a weapon carrier so so they walked toward me and engaged me in a conversation where they said I have should follow them after notice had the pistol on me.
I’m a licensed weapon carrier and there is nothing new about that. I don’t understand why people want to make too much issue out of this’ Akamba stressed.
According to him, people had intended to create mischief out of the whole encounter to suggest that he is a violent person.
