Ibrahim Tanko handed Black Meteors job

Ex-deputy Black Stars coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has been handed the Black Meteors job by the Ghana Football Association.

Tanko served alongside, Maxwell Konadu as assistants to Coach Kwasi Appiah during the year 2020-2021.

His appointment which takes effect from Tuesday would see the 44-year-old lead Ghana’s Olympic team to participate in the upcoming Africa Games to he hosted in Ghana next year.

This will not be the first time the former Borussia Dortmund attacker is handling the national Under-23 side as he was the coach when the team participated in 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Currently the Technical Director of Accra Lions, Tanko will be coming into the job with a depth of experience having previously coached in Germany, Japan and Cameroun.

Tanko started his football career with State Envoys FC in 1984-1990 before moving to King Faisal Babes where he spent three years before moving to the youth side of German Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund in the 1993/94 season.
