Ameyaw Akumfi To Set Up A Welfare Scheme For NPP
One of the aspiring Chairmen for the not distant NPP executive elections, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi has strongly dreamt of setting up a welfare scheme for all national, regional , constituency and electoral area officers who have loyally, dedicatedly and diligently served or continue to serve the party in different capacities.
In what he term an Ex-Gratia or end of service reward for these and other deserving party workers, he bemoaned the situation where such officers retire without commensurate rewards. According to the learned professor it’s about time people who devoted or devote their time, energy, resources and knowledge are properly compensated. “Party work we all know is a voluntary job, but people who leave their businesses, jobs, marriages and even families to work for the party must be shown adequate appreciation and compensation to spur others on to dedicate their time , energy and the like to serve the party very well,” he postulated.
The good professor lamented about party foot soldiers and other officers who sacrificed their time and everything sometimes at the peril of their dear lives for others to succeed politically but are neglected and abandoned so miserably in the end. He intimated that such painful treatment must be done away with if the party wants to stand the test of time. Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi who is swinging on three main themes of for his campaign ; Unity, Discipline and Commitment has asked party delegates to support his bid because he has something better than others’ best to offer the party and members after victory. He opined that he is looking beyond only breaking the eight because he believes that the party must win more victories and not just 2024.
He wants to prepare further for all future elections with ability to win any elections in the country. He therefore called for ‘NKABOM’ ,ie , unity as the prerequisite and antidote to present a stronger united front to face any electoral battle with hope and confidence. The confident professor who picked last his forms last week is billed to submit his forms on Tuesday, 14 th of June to officially announce his participation in the forthcoming national executive elections slated for 15th – 17th July this Year.
He appealed to to all aggrieved , disappointed, marginalised and dejected members of the party to to forget the past and look up to him for new order and new leadership style and management that will impact positively on all party faithfuls. “I have offered myself to come and heal the wounds and bring back a ray of confidence in order to bring everybody on board for newer, stronger and more attractive NPP. There are good times ahead so no one should sleep, relax or sit on the fence we need all hands on deck for 2024 victory and beyond “. He asked for the rolling back of the love , respect, dedication, commitment, sacrifices , selflessness, camaraderie trust and hope that formed the foundation of the party in the early stages.
He decried the situation where party work has become so expensive as people no longer want to sacrifice but want reward for every little service to the party as a result of past experiences. He believes good work will definitely and automatically be rewarded elwhen he comes to power.
