“Our Party will continue to grow from Strength to Strength” – Kwaku Nkansah aka PaaNii
From time to time, we put our internal processes to test, to elect willing patriots who would dedicate their services to our beloved party. This weekend ( April 28th 2022 – 2nd May 2022 ) will ussher in a similar period of such a test; we shall be electing leaders at the constituency level, a critical level at which aspiring and sitting Members of Parliament will either be selected or affirmed when the time comes.
These Constituency leaders are the shepherds of our Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, at the various constituencies, the frontiers of our ever progressive democratic capabilities. While there may be pockets of incidents at the various levels and in several constituencies, the process continues to deepen our beliefs in the progress, development, continuity and our democratic dispensation, both internal and external.
I support this process, which every now and then is modified to suit our ever changing political landscape and will plead with our members to exercise patience and restraint when things seem to go off the rails in places. We have internal mechanisms very capable of resolving these issues.
Having gone round the country and heard from the party footsoldiers, I have been privy to some of the challenges that our members face, some of the seeming machinations and seeds that tend to sow discontent.
I am currently aware of disqualifications which would most certainly demoralise those willing to serve the party. I encourage the local and regional leadership to allow those who have stepped forward to partake in the process and to support them in every way they can. Being a hindrance to them may send them elsewhere and make them “visitors” in our beloved party.
To break the 8, we need everyone, this is not the time to sideline, malign and disrespect our party faithful. This is not the time to prevent willing and budding leaders from taking their place in the party. We are strong, when we are together.
We must do everything possible to include all who believe in our Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition and in our values, as long as they abide by the guidelines and our constitution. Our party will continue to grow from strength to strength, when we follow laid down guidelines, agreed to by our National Council in the absence of National Conferences, in addition to our National Party Constitution.
Ours stands tall above the rest and we must be the “light” that shines in the darkness.
I take this opportunity to wish every aspirant well, and for them to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism at every turn in this new journey they have embarked on.
It is to the future that we are all called to serve. Let us see this as an honour, in humility to party and country.
All the best and may God bless you all…
Kukrudu!
