We are 100 years behind – Owusu Bempah on Ghana football

Veteran Sports journalist and administrator, Owusu Bempah says Ghana is 100 years behind the top clubs in the African club competitions.

Ghanaian football clubs have not made any significant impact in both the CAF champions league and the Confederation cup over the last 18 years ago.

The last time a Ghanaian club won a trophy in the African club competition dates back 2004 when Accra Hearts of Oak beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko to win the Confederation Cup.

Owusu Bempah in an interview with Kessben TV said football in Ghana has retrogressed especially club football blaming the Ghana football economy for the unfortunate.

To him, player exodus had been a major factor in the fallback noting that it is now hard to keep quality players in the Ghanaian league.
