Sports Minister holds fruitful bilateral talks with Saudi counterpart in Jeddah
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has held talks with his Saudi Arabia counterpart, HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal.
The meeting, which was held in the City of Jeddah, was aimed at consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries, especially strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the area of sports and youth development.
During the meeting on Monday night, common areas of mutual interest in sports and youth development were discussed, and the two parties are to proceed with an action plan.
Key areas include sports disciplines, administration and mutually-beneficial exchange programmes.
Ghana’s Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, commended his Saudi counterpart who doubles as President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee for his transformational leadership, which has opened up sports in the Kingdom.
Coincidentally, both Ghana and Saudi Arabia are getting ready to host their respective continental Games.
Ghana will host the Africa Games next year, and Saudi Arabia has won the bid to host the 2034 Asia Games in Riyadh.
The engagement with the Saudi Sports Ministry is the latest effort by Mustapha Ussif in his quest to establish and strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in sports between Ghana and other nations and international sports organisations for mutual benefits.
Mustapha Ussif has already engaged with several countries and organisations, both in Ghana and abroad, and some of the engagements are already yielding fruits in bilateral sports cooperation.
