Over 400 deferred students have come back to pay their fees – KNUST (Video)

The Public Relations officer for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST), Dr Norris Bekoe has revealed that over 400 students of the university who were differed for non-payment of their school fees have come back to pay their fees.

On Wednesday, 20th April 2022, about 6000 students in the tertiary institution were compelled to defer their course due to their inability to pay their fees.

The University had apparently said that the students had been trading their fees into other ventures including betting, Uber, and bakery.

The public relations officer of the university, Norris Bekoe speaking in an interview with Kessben TV noted that as of Thursday afternoon, over 400 students among the 6000 deferred students had come to pay the fees.

He noted while some others were still in queue heading to go and pay the fees, he’s optimistic the move to defer the students will yield positive results in having the students pay their tuition fees.

According to him, the university loses around GHC22,000 annually through nonpayment of school fees.
