There Is a Space For Student Entrepreneurs In My Regime – 56th NUGS President Assures

The 56th President of the National Union of Ghana Students, (NUGS) Dennis Ampofo Appiah-Larbi has mentioned that within the coming few weeks, his administration will discuss measures that seeks to enhance entrepreneurship among the students fraternity. An integration Scheme that will serve as a point of not only advocacy but support system
in the corridors of entrepreneurship on campus even before completion powers.

“The private sector remains a huge engine to building an educational sector that promotes equity,
accessibility and quality and this is exactly what my administration is committed to”

The NUGS President made this call at a colourful handing over and swearing in ceremony coupled with awards night at the National Theatre in Accra.

According to the Nugs President, government alone can not build the educational sector with regards to job creation, “whoever that has followed my trajectory as a student leader knows my concern for students with physical challenges remains unchanged”. He assured the over 400 attendees that in the coming days NUGS shall be assembling a team of young people who are
not only empathic but smart to build a disability project that will support students with disabilities with different forms of skills development, equipment and materials, and advocacy on equity and sustainable development, adding that Nugs disability fund shall soon become a reality, he said.

Touching on measures to making NUGS more vibrant in Teacher and Nursing training colleges, he outlined the necessary steps soon to be rolled out to institute the Colleges of Education
Integration Scheme that will focus on bridging the gap between Teacher and nursing training colleges of education
and the Mother union, that just like the Universities having a local NUGS Secretariat, within the next foreseeable future.

He called on the government of Ghana to consider the 56th Nugs administration as a partner in development, one that provides and brings to the table alternatives in ensuring that the cost financing scheme of our educational sector does not outweighs the students.

The other executives elected alongside the President are Joshua Opey, General Secretary, Francisca Lynn Willis, Secretary for finance, Ransford Tege, Secretary for Education, Jessica Twumasi, Secretary for Women Development, Amin mohammed, Secretary for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and skills development, Kojo Badu Kwarteng, Secretary for Union development and Alex, Secretary for international relations Oppong Kyekyeku.

The following are the appointed executives Bright Aboagye Gyasi, Secretary for Press and information, Bridget Ofori Agyemang, Secretary for Projects and Programs, Benjamin Ampoma, Tertiary and education officer, Nimoh Jesus, Further education Officer, Emmanuel Nyamekye, Special education officer, John Adu Sarfo, Pre-tertiary Education Officer and Desmond Mensah Brobbey, Technical and vocational Education Officer.

Present at the ocassion were Louisa Atta Agyemang, former NUGS General Secretary and President of Young Democrat Union of Africa, Hon Clement Opoku Gyamfi, DCE for Amansie South, Mr. Kojo Matasa Blay, former PRO of NUGS, Maxwell Dampare Sakyi, Ex GUPS President, Isaac Jay Hyde, former President of NUGS and representatives from all the blocs under Nugs.
