Monies meant for NHIS are transferred to cater for free SHS – Private Health Facilities cry over unpaid claims (Video)
The General Secretary for the Association of Private Health Facilities, Frank Torblu Richard has disclosed that Government has not paid for their claims since 2021.
According to Frank Torblu, the money allocated for the National Health Insurance to cater for the payment of claims has in recent years been reduced drastically resulting in the months of continuous unpaid claims to the Private Health Facilities.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi, Torblu stated that the amount of money earmarked for the payment of claims was 2 billion Ghana Cedis but unfortunately now stands at 127 million Ghana Cedis.
He alleged the rest of the money is being spent on the other sectors of the economy.
Torblu particularly mentioned the free SHS policy by the Government which is eating up a lot of money stating that the Government has been using the generated NHIS levy on the free SHS.
