‘You can’t move a motion here, you are not an MP’— Muntaka clash with Bagbin in Parliament (Video)
A heated argument ensued between the speaker of parliame,t Alban Bagbin and the Asawasi Member of parliament, Mubarak Muntaka on the floor of parliament when the speaker intended to move a motion to declare the seats of 3 MPs vacant.
The speaker apparently referred the three MPs, namely Adwoa Safo, Henry Quartey and Kennedy Agyapong to the privilege committee over persistent absenteeism in parliament.
According to Kessben TV’s reporter Obaapa Afia Agyemang, who was present in Parliament, Hon. Muntaka stood and challenged the speaker’s intent to move the motion for the three MPs’ seats to be declared vacant.
Muntaka quoted that it is against the standing orders of parliament for a speaker to move such a motion stressing that only members of parliament can move such a motion.
Suame MP and the majority leader of the house, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu rose to buttress what Munkata had said.
