Hundreds of properties destroyed after Sekondi tidal wave rocked city – Residents say defence wall is weak (Video)

According to Kessben FM’s reporter Ahanta Egudzie, Most of the Cold stores that trade fish are just a few metres around the sea thus most got all destroyed after the Sunday night tidal wave.

The tidal waves did not only destroy properties but left many residents displaced.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is yet to conduct a full impact assessment in affected communities to know the degree of the damage.

Some residents who spoke to Kessben TV underscored that the sea defence wall in Sekondi has become quite weak which made it possible for the water to sweep through the communities.

The sea defence project at Sekondi was completed in mid-2016 as part of the $140 million project for the construction of coastal protection for the western coastal lines.
