COVID Era: We should have sacked 15% of workers & cut pay by 25% to sustain Ghana’s economy – Kusi Boafo
The Chief Executive officer of the Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Kusi Boafo has attributed the current economic hardship to the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020.
Kusi Boafo speaking as a panellist on Amansan Tie with Akuoko Kwarteng divulged that during the peak of Covid-19 in 2020, Government should have sacked 15% of the Government workers as an austerity measure but did not.
He further noted that 25% of workers’ salaries were supposed to be slashed due to the effects of the pandemic but the Government considered the plight of the people.
According to him, the Government spent much more during the peak of the pandemic which drained the economy from 2020 leading to the economic hardship that we are witnessing today.
Kusi Boafo invigorated Ghanaians to be much more patient as the government is on course working tirelessly to recover the economy.
