Vivo Energy Ghana challenges women to aspire to higher positions in the work place

The Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr. Kader Maiga has challenged women to aspire to higher positions and break the inequalities in all working endeavours.
He said the company is working fervently to put in place systems to increase the percentage of female employees from its present 27.1 percent to 35 percent for the coming 5 year period.
Mr. Kader Maiga made the call at the maiden edition of Vivo Energy Ghana celebration of International Women’s Day on the hash tag, “#Break The Bias at a ceremony in Accra”.
According to him, the topic has urged women to break barriers that hinder their progress and development at work places and have also set a platform for them to be part of the managerial and decision making body in an institution.
Speaking on a topic, “Business Etiquette as Strategy for Personal Branding”, Ms. Heward-Mills, APR, Certified International Etiquette and Protocol Consultant called on women to brand themselves and take advantage of competitive positions and opportunities in the World of Works (WoW) pointing out however that they must continue to learn and explore all emerging trends at the work place.
She urged women to step out of their comfort zones and scale up as well as add value to present appointments and positions explained that the gesture will enable them attain their full potentials and destinies in all working space.
Ms. Heward-Mills advised women to demonstrate a sense of belonging to their respective position at their place of works and continue also to exhibit a mark of excellence at all times.
During an employee panel discussion on the topic “Gender Equality Today in the Workplace for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, discussants urged women to be resilient in taking up managerial positions and empower themselves through capacity building to enable them aspire to greater heights.
They challenged women to look out for mentors to teach them how to design clear cut goals in learning as well as draw up support systems to assist them in every working endeavour and also put in place the needed mechanism to break into male dominated space.
