2022 World Cup playoff: Black Stars to hold three training sessions before Nigeria clash

Players of the national team are expected to start arriving this weekend, as a programme is drawn ahead of the crucial game next Friday.

Interim coach Otto Addo will arrive in Ghana on Sunday, and will immediately move to Kumasi to start arrangement for his training routine.

The team will hold it’s first session on Tuesday and will have two more sessions on Wednesday and Thursday before the game on Friday.

Ghana have kept a low profile in terms of preparations for the tie, and many Ghanaians are not confident that the Black Stars will deliver something spectacular to oust Nigeria.

On paper, Nigeria are the favourites and they seem to be doing things right off the field. From announcing their squad early this month to players being promised huge winning bonuses and the technical team boasting of having their lineup ready.

Until Wednesday, March 16 Ghana did not have a home venue to host the first leg. CAF had to send a special team to inspect Baba Yara Stadium before it was approved.

The Cape Coast Stadium, originally set to host the game, was rejected by CAF after pictures emerged of the pitch in terrible condition after the 65th Independence Anniversary Parade.

Baba Yara Stadium has been approved but a lot must be done within 10 days, as stated by CAF in their letter to the GFA.
