Kotoko’s Richmond Lamptey & 4 other local players receive Black Stars call-up for AFCON 2023

5 players in the Ghana Premier League have been included in the provisional 50-man Black Stars AFCON squad, Kessben Sports has learned.

According to checks by Kessben Sports, 6 players from the Ghana Premier League will be included in the final 28-man squad for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Five of the players whose names are already out are Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s creative midfielder, Richmond Lamptey.

Medeama has three of their players included in the squad with forward Jonathan Sowah, Defender Fataw Hamidu, and Goalkeeper Felix Kyei.

John Antwi of Dreams FC is also part of five players who have been named in the squad.

The tournament kicks off on Saturday, 13 January when the hosts take on Guinea-Bissau at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Participating countries are to submit their 23-man squad with an option of 5 players to make it 28 players by the 5th of Jan 2024

Ghana is in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
