Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Holds COVID-19 Accountability Forum
The Tamale Metropolitan Local Accountability Network (LANet), held a network of civil society bodies in collaboration with MIHOSO, an NGO with support from the GACC conducted the research at GNAT Hall in tamale.
The research findings revealed by the coalition, the metropolitan reportedly received over GHC400,000 as the receipts for COVID-19 response in 2020, but funds for the 2021 remained unclear as no expenditure item were reported in the year.
Mr Issah Osman, BAC Head Savelugu said residents who received funds from Ghc 2,000 and below through Mobile Money will not pay back, but he emphasized that residents who received funds above Ghc 2,000 through bank accounts are to pay back the funds received.
Other local donations were also received from Non-Governmental Organizations and individuals and supports from these sources were however in the form of logistics and Personal Protective Equipment and monetary value of such items as well as the quantities was not reported.
Mr Imoro Abdulai, the Project Officer, GACC, later told Journalists infractions had been identified in the utilization of the COVID-19 funds in other project implementing districts, saying the findings would be released soon.
