Refereeing is our hobby, that is why we are not too worried when not paid – GK Manu
The Ashanti regional chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana GK Manu has said that refereeing is more of a hobby for them.
According to him, it is the reason why they are not too perturbed when they officiate games and are not paid for weeks.
The retired referee speaking in an interview with Tony Muntana on Kessben TV stated that referees have their respective permanent jobs thus are not too worried when not paid after officiating games which they consider to be a hobby.
He confirmed that due to the passion for officiating the games sometimes they pre-finance the cost of officiating the matches.
GK Manu refuted the reports that referees go 5-10 weeks without being paid. He revealed that sometimes it may be one or two referees who may have their monies not been paid for that long but not all the referees.
