Load shedding woe not yet over – VRA warns

The Volta River Authority says the commissioning of the Bui hydro electric power plant does not mean the end of load shedding in the country.
The dam will generate a total of four hundred megawatts but only one out of three phases was commissioned by President John Mahama Friday.
Head of Corporate Communications at the VRA, Kweku Fletcher told Joy News it will be unrealistic to say load shedding will be completely over because of the addition of Bui.
He said judging by the rate of growth, the country cannot immediately produce enough to meet our needs.
“Producing to meet our needs that’s quite significant with the coming on of Bui, but we still don’t have a reserve and therefore it is very unrealistic for me to say our load shedding woe is over.”
