Qatar acclimatization unreasonable for a tournament in November 2022- Frank Naro to Sports Minister
Ghana’s sports minister, Hon. Mustapha Ussif on the floor of parliament stated that the senior national football team, the Black Stars opted for Qatar as the camping base for the Black Stars ahead of the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon because they wanted the team to acclimatize with the weather ahead of the Qatar 2022 Worldcup which will be played in November 2022.
After the minister’s explanation, there has been massive backlash from Ghanaian football fans and sports journalists who cannot phantom what the minister said.
Senior sports pundit of Kessben Media, Frank Owusu Ansah widely known as Frank Naro speaking with Joe Laka on Midfield Action said scientifically what the minister said was not rational.
Naro just like many other Ghanaians could not believe why a team will decide to camp in Qatar ahead of an immediate tournament in Cameroon where the weather conditions are different.
