Sodom and Gomorrah demolition put on hold

The on-going demolition exercise at Old Fadama has been suspended after one of the excavators used for the exercise got stuck in the mud in the area.
Earlier on Tuesday, a fire outbreak which spread through parts of the area stalled the demolition exercise being carried out by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the 48 Engineers Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The fire spread through the debris of last Saturday’s demolition exercise.
This caused the city authorities to withdraw four excavators which were being used for the exercise.
The AMA and the 48 regiment from the Ghana Armed Forces were at the site on Tuesday to collect the debris from last Saturday’s demolition exercise to make way for the dredging of the Korle Lagoon and Odaw River.
