Gabon head coach Patrice Neveu tests positive for COVID-19, unavailable to face Ghana
Gabon will face Ghana in the second Group C game at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations without head coach Patrice Neveu, GHANAsoccernet.com understands
The Frenchman tested positive for COVID-19 which rules out of the game as he isolates from the team for about ten days.
The Panthers will be seeking qualification to the knockouts stages of the tournament on Friday January 14, 2022 as they take on the Black Stars.
Gabon were victors in their opening group game when they beat debutants Comoros 1-0 at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.
Assistant coach Anicet Yala who is returning to dugout after missing the first match will be charge of the Panthers against Gabon.
Four other players namely; Sidney Obissa Mboumini, Kevin Mayi, Lloyd Palun and Gilchrist Nguema have all tested positive for COVID-19 and are out of the game.
Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina who missed the game against Comoros have tested negative and are available to face the Black Stars.
Ghana lost 1-0 to Morocco in the first group game also in Yaoundé.
