Make provision for police stations – Dampare to Estate developers
The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has urged estate developers to make provision for police stations when carrying out their developments.
According to him, most developers don’t make provision for such facilities, which eventually affect the enforcement of law and order.
Speaking to the media and some police officers, Dr. Dampare gave assurances that the police administration will make personnel available to provide the needed security.
“Lands are being shared for both developmental purposes; commercial and residential, and nobody will factor in a place like a police station. They share the whole piece of land and thereafter they have no place for police, and yet they want police to come into that community. We want to urge all and sundry that for everything that we do, if security peace, law, and order are not in place, the equation will not balance.”
The advice by the IGP is to help the police quickly and effectively deal with crime in various communities, especially newly developed ones, which are often prone to crime.
Many individuals and corporate groups have in recent times led the charge to construct police stations.
Some of these gestures include a police station built at New Winneba by Effutu MP, Alex Afenyo Markin, and a station built by the Church of Pentecost at GH¢135,000 at Abram Agona.
