Reversal of benchmark values: Ordinary Ghanaians will suffer the most – Sammy Gyamfi

The national communication officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi has said the government’s policy to reverse the benchmark values on some imported goods will only cause more suffering to the citizenry.

The Government intends to reverse the benchmark value to ensure that more locally produced products are patronized.

Sammy Gyamfi however thinks it’s absolutely wrong to make such a bad move which has more adverse effects on its purpose.

Sammy Gyamfi speaking on Kessben Maakye stressed that if the benchmark values on some imported goods are reversed, the effects will be more damming on Ghanaians.

The National Democratic Congress has called for the withdrawal of the move.

The reversal of the benchmark values was supposed to take effect from 4th January 2022 but due to much discussion about it, it could take effect on the said date.
