N/R: Newly Inaugurated Sports Committee pays courtesy call to the Overlord of Dagban, Mion Lana and Regent of Bimbila
The Northern Regional Sports Committee which was inaugurated by the Hon. Shani Alhassan Saibu Northern Regional minister on the 1st September, 2021.
The chairman of the Northern Sports Committee Prof. Seidu Alhassan former Pro Vice Chancellor of the university for development Studies led the delegation to the palace overlord of Dagban Yaa Naa Mahama Abubakar II.
His royal highness Yaa Naa Mahama Abubakar II, pledged to support and also provide vast land to the of sports.
He said his doors are open any time the committee needs his assistance.
Mion-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu edged the committee to always focus on development of the sports federations in the region.
He said sports is meant to promote peace, unity and also keeping the body fit.
Mion-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu and stakeholders have also provide a vast to groom the youth in sports in the Mion traditional area.
Regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Andani Dassana at his palace commended the Committee for their hard work in order to help promote sports in the region.
In his address he noted that, the committee should pay more attention to the other aspects of sports such as, Boxing, Judo, badminton, long tennis many others which are also recognized in the world.
He pleaded to the committee to construct a stadium to the people of the Bimbilla traditional area and its environs to make them have access to sporting activities in the area.
In attendance was Prof. Seidu Alhasan chairman, Hajia Salamatu Alhassan N/R National Sports Authority Director, Mr. Samuel Nii Oblie Secretary of the committee and other stakeholders and members.
