Kotoko high gate fees: 1 is paying for 3 because of COVID-19 limitations – Kotoko Supporters Chairman
Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Ashanti regional supporters, Obeng Sekyere has justified the high gate fees of Kumasi Asante Kotoko home games.
According to the supporter’s leader, the high gate fees which are charged at the Baba Yara Sports stadium for Kotoko games are a result of the COVID-19 restrictions.
Only 25% of football fans are allowed in stadia for Ghana premier league games due to measures taken to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The supporter’s chairman speaking on Extra Time on Kessben FM explained that the decision to allow only 25% of fans in the stadium has been influencing the gate fees the Kumasi-based football club currently charges at their home games.
He conceded to the fact that the prices are quite on the high but the supporters should understand the situation.
Obeng Sekyere added that the charges are for the short term. He is hopeful that when more football fans are vaccinated which will allow the authorities to open up on the number of fans that can enter stadia, the gate fees will see a reduction.
The lowest ticket price for Kotoko games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium currently stands at GHC30.00
