Kumasi: Eight Arrested At NPP National Delegates’ Conference
The police have arrested at least eight individuals at the ongoing national delegates’ conference of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The police effected the arrest with the aid of party volunteers, Asaase News’ Ashanti Regional correspondent Jonathan Ofori reported.
The suspects were arrested by security agencies after they breached protocols at the grounds. The all-male suspects, yet to be identified, have been whisked away by the police who have begun investigations into their activities.
Surveillance cameras have been installed at strategic positions at the Heroes’ Park at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, the venue of the two-day conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Similar surveillance cameras have also been mounted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus, where the delegates will be lodging.
The state-owned Daily Graphic reported that in all, 400 surveillance cameras have been installed.
The conference is on the theme: “NPP: Our resolve, our determination and commitment to Ghana’s development”.
Over 6000 delegates are attending the conference to consider 38 proposed amendments to the party’s constitution.
