Members of the All Teachers Alliance group have demonstrated against the One Teacher One Laptop project introduced by the ministry of education and teacher unions.
The teacher’s group on Wednesday, 15th December 2021 presented their petition to Deputy Director of the GES Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh who received the petition on behalf of the director-general of GES.
A member of the demonstrators who spoke with Appiah Kubi on Maakye, questioned the quality of the laptops which are being shared to the teachers.
According to him, the laptops which are being imposed on them, unfortunately, do not also have high specifications.
He disclosed that the speed of the laptops which they have received so far are very slow and wonder if it can really serve its purpose.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Akwasi Kwarteng in an interview with Kessben TV revealed each laptop cost GHC1,500.
He noted that the government-funded 70% of the cost of each laptop while the teachers takes 30% of the cost.
