AFCON 2021: Milovan Rajevac names two Kotoko players in 40-man squad
Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac has included two Asante Kotoko players in his provisional squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] scheduled for next year.
The Serbian has already submitted his 40-man provisional squad to the Ghana Football Association [GFA].
According to reports, Razak Abalora and Ismail Abdul Ganiyu have been handed a call-up for the tournament.
Abalora is making a return to the team after he was dropped from the Black Stars few months ago following his standout performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
The former WAFA SC goalkeeper is currently rated the best among his peers in the 2021/22 Ghanaian top-flight league season.
He has managed to keep four clean sheets in his six appearances for Asante Kotoko this season so far.
Also, the club’s skipper Ismail Abdul Ganiyu has been included in the provisional squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cameroon next month.
The Black Stars will commence preparations for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Doha, Qatar on December 22.
Ghana has been paired alongside Morocco, Comoros and Gabon in Group C.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Cameroon from 9th January 2022 to 6th February 2022.
Ghana will be aiming to end their 39 years trophy drought in Cameroon next year.
