The Ecowas resident representative in Ghana Baba Gana Wakil at the opening ceremony of the capacity building workshop for multi stakeholders on Ecowas protection and human security integration at Oak Plaza Hotel, Accra said that, children still face a high prudence of violence, corporal punishment and social abuse of which such victims should have access to child- gender sensitive justice.
Speaking at the program, he noted that Ghana needs a strong and enforceable legal policy and institutional frameworks that are properly resourced and staffed for authorities responsible for keeping women and children safe.
He revealed that Ghana should evolve a strong social mobilisation strategy that involves all key stakeholders to tackle societal challenges and address power imbalance.
“We must work together to improve human security in the country by leveraging the capacities and resources of relevant stakeholders and ensure thar every citizen is protected.
Madam Dufu on behalf of Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey added that “We are indeed hopeful that the eventual establishment of the Office of the ECOWAS Protection and Human Security Integrated Coordination Mechanism in Ghana would aid in coordinating the efforts of all stakeholders in promoting the rights and freedoms of people, maintaining their dignity, as well as, ensuring equal opportunities for all to enjoy their rights and develop their human potential.
