Police to inspect Covid vaccination card of ‘trotro’ drivers from January 2022

The government as part of efforts in getting more Ghanaians vaccinated has announced that commercial drivers and riders will be required to present a vaccination card starting January 2022.

This has been disclosed by Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu during the launch of the National Vaccination Month in Accra on 1st December 2021.

He said not only will drivers be required to show their driver’s license when stopped by the Police, but they must also show a Covid-19 vaccination certificate.

“Modalities for strict implementation have been laid down, and as part of them, the police would be checking vaccination certificates, in addition to driving licenses of commercial drivers and riders,” the Health Minister added.

At the launch of the event, Mr. Agyemang-Manu urged Ghanaians to get vaccinated in order to be protected from the deadly virus.

“Let me take this opportunity to assure the public that all vaccines currently being deployed in the country [Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer] have received local and international authorisation, making them safe and effective.

“Vaccines save lives! We cannot overemphasise the importance of vaccination in health. It is evident that the single most important public health,” the Health Ministry stressed.
