Weeds take over NPP new Regional office in Kumasi

Construction of the New Patriotic Party office in Kumasi which started in 2018 after a sod cutting by the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia remains abandoned.

The office when completed will contain twenty-four offices and three conference halls to be named after late Baffour Akoto, father of Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Akoto Afriyie.

The edifice will help the regional executives to carry out their activities to free them from rented apartments since the founding of the party in the region comes with a high cost.

However, Kessbenfm’s Osempakani Sampson visit to the scene observed that weeds have now taken over the structure and some of the building materials are left at the mercy of the weather.

The compound of the yet to be completed edifice has also turned an open defecation site for wee smokers and street guys.

Meanwhile, the NPP in the region is facing eviction from its office at Krofuom in Kumasi as the Landlady has threatened to close down the Regional head office over rent arrears.

The move by the landlady has heightened public criticism and ridicule against the regional chairman, Mr Barnard Antwi Boasiako commonly known as Wontumi who prior to the 2020 election showed bars of gold on his television but struggle to pay the head office rent arrears.

Reacting on the criticism, Mr Duncan Boateng one of the communicators for the party Chairman who led a press conference at the same party office today emphatically disclosed that Wontumi had paid ten years to rent advance so the landlady accusation is a palpable lie which he urged the public to disregard such information.
